Homework for Week of September 25

September 24, 2006

Monday:
You are divided into 2 groups tonight based on your last section quiz. Group X will read pages 345-347, study the examples, and be ready to teach lesson 7-4 to the rest of us. Group Y will do 7-2 quiz corrections. I am holding Lunch Bunch meetings during lunch recess all this week in preparation for our first test on Friday. If you need extra help (you know who you are!), come join me!

Tuesday:
Tonight you will practice the last skill you need for our test on Friday. Do p. 347, problems 3-12. If your score requires it, do 7-3 quiz corrections. These will help you begin to prepare for Friday’s test. Remember, I am holding Lunch Bunch meetings all this week in my room during lunch recess.

Wednesday:
Tonight you need to take the Lesson 7-4 Self-Check Quiz online. To find the quiz, follow these links: Click on the Glencoe Pre-Algebra Resources under the Useful Links at the right hand side of our web page; go to Lesson Resources; click Self-Check Quizzes, Chapter 7, Lesson 4. Do the quiz and check it. If you are happy with your score, send notification of your completion to my school email address (dhannigan@css.org). If you want to try again before you send me your score, try the quiz again. Your grade for this quiz will be your score plus points for sending it to me today or tonight. If you are having trouble sending the quiz to me, print a copy of the score page to turn in to me tomorrow.

Plan on attending Lunch Bunch if you want some extra help before Friday’s test.

Thursday:
Study for your Mid-Chapter Test (see Test Alert below).

Friday:
Test Day!! No homework.

Test Alert for September 29

September 21, 2006

We will have our first mid-chapter test on Friday, September 29. It will cover sections 7-1 through 7-4. You will take the test in class without notes or the use of your book. We will have time on Thursday to review for the test, but you should begin to think about preparing for the test now. Doing your quiz corrections and redoing your homework will help you focus on how to do each type of problem. If there are any problems that you are still struggling with, now is the time to come in to see me for extra help.

Homework for the Week of September 18

September 18, 2006

Monday:
You got back your first section quiz. If you got any score less than 12, make corrections and turn them in tomorrow. For homework, complete the 10 problems at the bottom of the 7-2 Study Guide sheet I handed out today. As always, do your problems on a separate sheet of paper with MLA heading, showing all your work, and doing a check.

Tuesday:
P. 336-337, problems 9-25 ODD, 30, 31, and 33. Kodiak Scholar can do the enrichment sheet I passed out.

Wednesday:
Tonight you are taking a take home quiz. Please use your book, notes, and homework, but not your parents or friends. Not all the problems work out neat and clean. Be prepared for fraction or decimal answers in #4, 5, and 7. That’s okay! Do your best work and show all your steps so you can get some credit even if you have trouble reaching the correct answer. Good luck!

P.S. Here is a secret Blogger’s Bonus for logging in tonight…the answer to #4 is 31/7 (leave it in that fraction form to check it more easily!).

Thursday:
Most of you completed your 7-3 study guide in class. You also need to memorize the chart that helps you remember when to use each of the inequality signs. If you forgot to take home your study guide sheet, you can find the same chart in the textbook online on page 341.

Friday:
On page 343, do problems 13, 15, 17, 21, 23, 29, 35, 39, 41, 42. Have a good weekend!

September 11, 2006

Monday:
Period 1: Prepare for a quiz on the review material. You have a quiz tomorrow.
Period 3 and 5: Complete the practice sheets so that we can go over them tomorrow. Your quiz will be on Wednesday.

Tuesday:
Period 1: Do the Algebra Tile activity on p. 328-329. Complete all problems on both pages, 1-8 and 9-16.
Period 3 and 5: Study for your quiz on the review material. Your quiz is tomorrow!

Wednesday:
Complete the 7-1 worksheet. Do problems 1-12 on a separate sheet of paper so that you have room to show all your steps. Model your steps after the problem you described in words on the worksheet.

Thursday:
Review the example problems on pp. 330-331. Then, do problems 10-26 evens, 28, 29, and 34. Don’t skimp when you write out your problems and solutions…include every step!
KODIAK SCHOLAR PROBLEMS: 30, 31, 35

IMPORTANT!! We’ll have our first section quiz this Friday, so check with me if you are having problems with equations that have variables on both sides.

Friday:
You took your first section quiz and handed in your first packet today! Only 47 more to go (really!). No homework for you over the weekend.
