Homework for the Week of October 23

October 24, 2006

Monday:
No homework.

Tuesday:
Complete the Charity Walkathon problem. Make a table of all the pledge options up to 10 miles. Graph all three pledge options on one graph so you can see how they compare. Decide which option is best and write a convincing argument for that option.

Wednesday:
You are going to work through two sections of the book on your own using the background you have built in our math labs this week solving the walking and Charity walkathon problems. Read the example problems from both sections 8-3 and 8-4. Then work these 10 problems:
8-3 p. 384-385 #12, 13, 17, 20, 25, 26

Homework for the Week of October 16

October 16, 2006

Monday:
Today you got the Webquest project assignment. Spend some time this week checking out the internet for data about a recreational activity of your choice. Be ready to choose your topic by this Friday.

Tuesday:
Finish the Study Guide we started in class. Then do problems 13-21 and 27-37 (odds only) from page 378 in your book. If you did not get a perfect score on your 8-1 quiz, you owe me a quiz correction, too.

Wednesday:
Choose any 8 problems that you have not yet done on page 378. Do them for homework tonight to practice solving linear functions. You will have a quiz on section 8-2 on Friday. If you need help before then, come see me during your study hall tomorrow. Since you will be at service learning all morning, you will have no new homework…a perfect time to catch up on your math understanding!

Thursday:
No new homework. Get ready for 8-2 quiz in class tomorrow.

Homework for the Week of October 9

October 10, 2006

Tuesday:
Study for your Chapter 7 test tonight.

Wednesday:
Not everyone was able to complete the test in one period. Because of rehearsal for Showcase, you also couldn’t all come in during study hall. SO…we will finish the test in class tomorrow.

Thursday:
We are starting Chapter 8! To see what you remember from last year, do problems 1-11 on page 367. If you need to refresh your memory about these types of problems, review the lessons they mention in the book.

Friday:
Do problems 12-23 (all) on pages 371-372.

Note Change!! Test Alert for October 11

October 2, 2006

****Today we decided to change our test day to next Wednesday, October 11. With the shortened periods on Friday we need an extra day next week for review.****
On Wednesday, October 11, we will have our first full chapter test on Chapter 7. It will be longer than the mid-chapter test, so you will need to know how to work the problems more quickly with accuracy. We will do lots of practice problems during this week. I also encourage you to meet me in my room for Lunch Bunch this Wednesday and Thursday to go over problems that are difficult for you. The extra one-on-one time with me might be just what you need.

Homework for the Week of October 2

October 2, 2006

Monday:
We began section 7-5. We practiced with problems 4-12 on page 353 in class. There is no homework tonight.

Tuesday:
Do problems 15-37 odd on page 353 to turn in tomorrow. Quiz on 7-5 is first thing during class tomorrow.

Wednesday:
Do problems 4-11 all on page 357.

Thursday:
Do the online quiz for 7-6. Send me an email with your score or print out your quiz to turn in to me tomorrow. Don’t forget that you have a notebook check tomorrow.

Friday:
Start looking over all the sections for Chapter 7 in preparation for our test next week. If you do a few practice problems from each section over the long weekend, you will be in better shape to do some last minute review on the night before the test. Plus, you will know if you have questions you want cleared up on Tuesday.
