Homework for the Week of December 11

December 11, 2006

Monday:
Today you got a Math Review sheet. We started going over it and will finish going over it tomorrow. Try all the sample problems and review the kinds of questions I will ask on the final. Then make a clue card (3 x 5 card, both sides) to use during the final.

If you need extra help, come see me before or after school before your final. We do not have any more lunches, so there are no official Lunch Bunch meetings, but you can come see me before you go home at noon any day.

Good luck on your finals and have a happy holiday break. See you in January!

A Note about Finals in Math

December 5, 2006

You will have a comprehensive final in math. It will cover Chapters 7, 8, and half of 9. You can use a calculator for part of the final, and you must have a protractor with you for the test. You also may use a clue card (3 x 5 card, both sides). Use this card to help you remember formulas and steps to do problems that you find difficult.

We will go over study strategies on Monday. In the meantime, you should use your chapter tests as study guides. If you can do the problems on the chapter tests, you can do the final. For Chapter 9, go over the two quizzes to make sure that you know the new material. Plus, make sure that you can use the Pythagorean Theorem with right triangles.

Finally, you will get 3 lifelines on the final. This means that you may skip 3 problems with no penalty. Happy Holidays from your math teacher!

Homework for the Week of December 4

December 4, 2006

Monday:
We reviewed angles today. Most of you remember quite a bit from your last study of angles in 5th grade. Do 9-3 Practice sheet tonight. You need to have a protractor for every class now…buy one if you haven’t gotten one already.

Tuesday:
We review triangles today. Do the 9-4 Study Guide (we started in class) and the 9-4 Practice sheet. Be ready for a quick quiz on Wednesday on 9-3 (angles) and 9-4 (triangles).

Wednesday:
No homework!

Thursday:
Finish the 9-5 Study Guide. Be sure to do all your work on a separate sheet of paper, showing the equation and how you solved it. Do all the steps like you did when we were studying equations in Chapter 7.

Friday:
P. 463, problems 10-32 even. Show all your work so that I can see how you are using the Pythagorean Theorem and square roots correctly.
